Nowadays, everywhere you look someone is touting the virtues of living your passion. That sounds all well and good, but what does it even mean? How does one go about actually doing that? Although your path to living a passionate life will undoubtedly be as unique as you, there is a lot to be learned from the daring souls doing just that!
Here are the secrets I’ve uncovered in my research and along my own journey to help you get there faster.
There is no right or wrong passion to pursue; only the one that aligns with who you are at your core. Gaining greater clarity of what you truly long for is a critical step. Follow your interests, your curiosities, your fascinations and your joy – it will lead you to discover your passion!
Many people want to live a life of passion; few are committed to it. Having a big vision can tip the scales of commitment, giving you a reason bigger than yourself. Adopt the tenacious curiosity of a toddler, and keep asking yourself “why” – eventually, you will uncover the root of your desires.
It isn’t enough to just think about what you want – you need to feel it. Bringing vivid images to your mind and connecting to the sensations they create will strengthen your ability to attract what you seek.
When it comes down to it, there really are no steadfast rules for how to live your passion. Similar to a child approaching a sandbox full of toys, you can play however you want. Keep that attitude and you’ll be more likely to follow your internal intuition as it guides you in the right direction.
In the pursuit of passion, failure is simply information. When trying something new, you either win or you learn. Have faith that whatever happens along the way, it is the perfect experience leading you to the next step.
As much as envisioning your life of passion can accelerate your manifestation of it, there will be aspects exceeding your wildest imagination. Don’t limit the possibilities by being too attached to the when, where, how and who. While making declarations of what you want, open your heart by adding the qualifier, “or something better”.
This life you seek requires fresh perspectives, new experiences and an open mind. Be willing to do what it takes. The closer you get, the more passion you feel, the easier it will become to take bigger risks and reap even bigger rewards.
While having a big vision can add purpose and urgency, it can also overwhelm you – paralyzing your ability to act. Break down your dreams into manageable steps to make them easier to accomplish so you can gain the momentum you need to succeed.
Striving to achieve society’s traditional notions of success can be distracting and pull focus from what you truly want. Create a new definition of success, more aligned to your passion so you will know when you are living it.
The best way to keep momentum is to celebrate your progress. Don’t wait for major milestones; remember to mark the small wins too! Create a daily, weekly and monthly ritual to keep you connected with the joy of living your passion and you’ll attract even more to celebrate.
You don’t have to do this alone. Surround yourself with people who will support your vision, encourage your progress and inspire you to dream even bigger.
Embrace the idea that your passions may evolve with time, and create the flexibility and space to evolve with them.
Living a life of passion is about your whole life, not just part of it. Instead of “work / life balance”, aim for full-life integration! Decide on your top priorities and let them filter your decisions. Get creative in how you choose activities that reflect several of your values at once.
Fully living your passion takes time. Trying to accomplish everything at once can be overwhelming and discouraging. Be kind to yourself and remember it is all happening with divine timing.
Joy & happiness are found in the NOW. Don’t let the fact that you aren’t fully living your passion yet; stop you from finding fabulous right where you are. Ask yourself, “What am I waiting for?” and challenge yourself to bring some of the joy you seek into your life today.
